Bro's I will be in Batam from 14-17 Dec.
As I will be with my family ( Wife & Daughter ) do you think I can walk from Harmoni hotel to Nagoya hill / Windsor area ? Will it be safe both day & night ? If I am alone it's a different story but with Family , just contemplating with choices and options. So I need you Bro;s suggestion / advice.

You don’t have to go Windsor for Sederhana, there’s one just nearby Harmoni Hotel. It’s right across the street from McDonald’s, just 5 mins’ walk away from your hotel.
I think "safety" is really subjective. For my own experiences, I personally feel Malaysia (JB, KL) is safer.
Reason for saying so, because I was robbed before in Batam. Two guys (in motorcycle) pointed pen-knife to me and took my wallet. In Jakarta, I was attacked by few guys with clurit (sickle) which put me in hospital for few days, plus stitches on my head. I was not attacked purposely, it was a mistaken identity. thank god, I am still alive.
It is better to be careful, wherever you are. crime happen when you are at the wrong place, at the wrong time... peace !!!!

Like you mentioned, crime can happen when you are in the wrong place at the wrong time. It is almost unanimous among bros here that Batam is safer so long as you use your common sense and not take unnecessary risks. JB is notorious for robbery and snatch theft while KL has the worst taxi drivers in the whole of Malaysia and probably among the worst in the world. You might even get rob in a taxi! Lastly, you see plenty of reports in the newspaper regarding robbery and assault cases in JB & KL but almost unheard of in Batam.
Having said all that, just use your big head when cheonging these places. Small head can be used when you are in a safer place like your hotel room or in a spa.
Step out of Formosa turn right,walk past Lucky plaza building to look for Mickey Mouse Bak Kut Teh,hehehe... (keep walking downward to the next bigger building to locate the shop)

Thanks Bro , I am aware of that as I've been there x 2. Just wanted to try out this outlet since I will be heading to Nogaya hill 1st for massage thereafter thought to head down to the Sedehana Nasi padang at Windsor area.

All the Sederhana outlets’ food quality is pretty much the same regardless of which outlet u go to because all the food is cooked in their main outlet cum central kitchen in Kepri Mall and delivered to the respective outlets.
Based on today’s XE rates, getting 10020-10030 shouldn’t be difficult at all.
