Re: Storytime: The weak spot.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

I am only 16. Plus my family is on the conservative side so I’m totally new to the clubbing scene. This club looked new. It was located in an industrial area, seemingly converted out of a giant warehouse complex. The bright neon lights and flashing LCD screenboards lit up the night, a far cry from the dark dank atmosphere of the workshops and warehouses in the surroundings that were closed for the night.

The main entrance were choke full of people, gawky lengchais and lovely lengluis alike. Luxury cars were carefully parked in specially lighted spots to add to the luster.

Since we were only driving a Toyota, we just hang our heads low and rolled on over to the parking lot behind the complex...

We parked and got out of the car. Serena was already busy texting on her phone. And Mark was bent over, checking his porcupine hair in the side mirror.

At this point I was starting to feel a little awkward. It’s obvious everyone here dresses to their nines. I’m in cargo shorts and a polo shirt, sporting flip flops. I took a deep breath and reasoned to myself that no one is going to recognize me after tonight anyway. Besides, I am kind of curious what goes on in places such as this.

Fingers crossed that it is as decadent and hedonistic as I imagined it to be. Heh, heh.

To my surprise, instead of heading around to the front, we headed straight towards the back of the building. Around the corner, there was a stairwell leading to the second floor with a door there lighted by a wall lamp.

Seems kind of shady...

I could see the hesitation on Mark’s face. He was always a stickler for rules.

Serena checked her phone. “Should be the door up there,” she said. I could see she was a little nervous as well.

Me? Shit... I fucked my cousin. That’s a five star taboo. What’s a little illegal entry to me?

So I climbed up the stairs. The other two followed me eventually. However, I hesitated to open the door. Wouldn’t a place like this have some sort of security measure? If anyone could just waltz in through the back door, why doesn’t everyone do it?

Before any of us could act, the door opened by itself. A stocky and tall indian guy, about my brother’s age, in a red shirt and white slacks greeted us at the entrance with a smile.

“Finally la,” He said. “I thought you weren’t going to come.”

“Hi Leo,” Serena said.

“Sorry we’re late,” added Mark. “I had to fetch my brother from tuition,” He explained while motioning at me with his head.

Leo seems surprised but he regarded me with a friendly smile.

I waved a ‘hi’ at Leo with a wry smile.

Leo broke into a laugh. “Okay, no problem. Just pray the police don’t plan to raid this place today,”

Well that was reassuring.

Leo motioned us to come in. As I passed the doorway, I immediately noticed the CCTV camera pointed directly at us from the corner of the room. Other than that, the room was rather empty save for some cartons of leaflets and other promotional materials left to gather dust.

We marched across to the next room. Inside, it was like a scene from a gangster movie. four burly men were seated around a table, cloaked in cigarette smoke. Wads of cash and playing cards littered the surface, illuminated only by a single light bulb lamp hanging directly above them. The men barely acknowledged us as we skittered across the room to the next door.

I guess I just met the backdoor security.

Past the second door, we were greeted with the deafening thumps of what I assumed passes as music around here. It was dark, save for the swirling bits of colored lights around us. The dance floor was well lit though, as was the bar. Both sites were so choke full of people that i was amazed no one was passing out from lack of air.

We got to the open stairs to the ground level. Already, a bunch of glances were thrown my way, some of bemusement, others of confusion. Mark was probably hanging somewhere between embarrassment and revulsion. Leo seemed to take notice though. He came over and took a pair of gold rimmed aviator shades from his front pocket and placed them on my head.

"There," he said. "Try to look a bit more cocky and you'll fit right in."

I exchanged glances with Serena. She laughed a little. On the way down I passed a mirror paneled pillar and saw what Leo meant. Even in a polo t-shirt and cargo shorts, I look like some rich brat who was above paying his dues to social norms. Chest puffed, I strutted on.

We joined a rowdy crowd hanging around five or six tables somewhere between the dance floor and the bar. I assumed they were college mates of my brother. They certainly look the age. Mark and Serena proceeded to mingle while I sat myself down at the table at the edge of the group and ogled out at the dance floor. Not there were much to see. Somehow it was harder to enjoy the view when it was a mess of writhing and waving limbs. For me, it was better if it was just one hot babe dancing.

Drinks started to flow and Mark and friends seemed to loosen up almost immediately. There was a group of girls who seem to be part of Mark's college group but was also a clique of their own. There were about five of them and they had a table all to themselves. It was obvious who the queen bee of the group was. And by God, she was gorgeous. When I first noticed her I had do a double take. Then a triple. She wore a tight strapless short dress, all black. Her long lustrous straight hair flowed like a mane of silk past her shoulders. She was beautiful in the way movie stars or supermodels were beautiful. I had to do a fourth take just to make sure I wasn't looking at a beer ad.

The girls ordered cocktails, downed them classily, then rose to head over to the dance floor. Minutes later, Mark and several guys was only too eager to jump after them. Serena however, seemed to be more apprehensive. She remained seated with a few friends. Seeing that there was a vacant seat beside her, I went over to have a chat.

"You not going to dance?" I asked her, raising my voice over the music.

She shook her head. Even under the dim flickering lights, I could see she was frowning.

"Who is this?" I hear someone ask. It was another girl seated on the other side of Serena.

"I'm John!" I proclaimed.

"He's Mark's younger brother," Serena explained. "This is Jessica," she introduced her friend.

We exchanged nods. I noticed Serena was glancing over at the dance floor, looking troubled.

"You sure you don't want to go up there?" I asked her.

Jessica answered for her, "She already told Mark she doesn't want to."

"Uh, okay," I said, thinking it was a lame excuse.

Jessica then elbowed Serena and whispered something into her ear. Serena glanced at me, looking unsure.

"Okaaay," I said, feeling that something was rather off. "I'm gonna go hang out at the bar."

Quick as a cat, Jessica's hand shot out and caught mine. "Not so fast," she said. "We need to talk."

"Er..."

"Please John," Serena added. "There is something I must ask you."

Sheesh, I can't say no to a beauty. Plus Jessica was quite a cutie herself. I shrugged and nodded.

The girls exchanged a few words and rose to their feet. Jessica turned to the guy on her other side and spoke to him for a few seconds. I guess that must be her date or her boyfriend. Just my luck. I was hoping she was single and this trip wouldn't be a complete waste.

The girls led me further away from the dance floor, past some glass partitions to a corridor where the acoustics weren't an issue.

"So..." I said.

"First," Jessica said, "We need to know whose side will you take if it comes down between Mark and us."

"Uh..."

"Well?"

"What are you saying?"

"We need to know if we can trust you..."

I glanced at Serena. "I just need to know something about Mark," she said.

I sighed. "Okay fine, what do you want to know?"

"Has Mark been acting strange lately?" Jessica asked.

I shrugged. "Not that I am aware."

"So no strange phonecalls, messages, and anything like that?"

"I tend not to give a shit about what he does. Look, what is this about?"

"Well, we were just wondering if Mark has someone else on the side," Jessica replied.

"You mean he's cheating on you?" I asked Serena.

"I... I dunno," Serena replied. "I'm trying to find out."

I sighed again, but inwardly, I let out a chuckle. Here's my chance to play a hero.

"So you just need to look at his phone right?" I asked.

"I tried, but there is a pin code," Serena said.

The gears in my head were churning. "Wait here," I said.

Then I walked off, back the way we came and straight to the dance floor.

Re: Storytime: The weak spot.

The floor was more hectic than I made it out to be from afar. After squeezing through a bunch of grinding body-parts for a few minutes, I finally found Mark. He wasn't so much dancing as just tapping his goddamn foot. But it was obvious his mind was occupied elsewhere. I followed his gaze until it came to rest on the object of his attention. It was incredibly gorgeous girl I had seen earlier. The one with her own clique. You know when I said no one here actually knows how to dance? I take than back. I take that back twice and thrice.

She was captivating. Like a siren, but you know, with seductive swaying of hips and steamy moves rather than alluring voice. You know how the sirens in the tale of Odysseus would lure sailors to their deaths by causing them to drive their ships into rocks? Yeah, there are rocks all right. Her entourage wasn't going to let any of these sailors near her. Not that no one tried. Those that did found themselves being firmly pushed back by the girl's girlfriends all while they rubbed and fondled each other up and down. Heh, heh, I guess you could say the ship of their pride was 'dashed' against those rocks.

Mark, the big dufus, was clearly playing it safe. If this goes on any longer, he would be salivating all over the dance floor. I tried to make my way towards him. But just as he was within reach, to my surprise, the Siren made her move.

She glided across the dance floor effortlessly. Throwing several people off their balance, even her own 'rock' formation. She stopped in front of Mark, hips still swaying, and ran her fingers down his chest.

Mother of God, I want to take her behind the club and pound her so fucking bad. But I snapped out of it. Focus, Johnny, focus. You're a knight on a quest for two lovely maidens and if you play your cards right, heh, heh, heh. Obviously I'm gonna expect some kind of reward.

To my amazement, Mark began to jiggle, as if in a trance. He was probably trying to match the hot girl's moves. It was as lame as it sounded. The girl didn't seem to be put off though. In fact she looked amused.

Don't go there bro, this girl eats naive sailors for breakfast. Monsters like these needs certain type of people to handle. Heroes with, ahem, some 'magical' powers for instance.

I watched as Mark stepped slightly forwards and tried to dance. Sighing, I pushed past a couple of people and grabbed Mark on his shoulder. That seemed to make him snap out of it. His skin almost jumped off his frame in fact. He snapped around and looked at me. At first he didn't seem to recognize me. It was probably the lights. Then he scowled and gave me one of his patented 'the fuck you want?' look.

"I need to borrow your phone!" I yelled over the music. "I have to call mom! My phone out of batteries!"

A look of panic spread across his face. It was all according to my plan. Here he is in front of probably the hottest girl in the club and his annoying underdressed little brother is screaming about calling mom. Flustered, he glanced back at the girl. She was facing away from him, still dancing seductively and watching us with one curious eye. Her lips, graced with a half smile, was practically an invitation for a face fuck.

Mark quickly dug out his phone and passed it to me. I fumbled with it for a few minutes then showed him the unlock screen. Glaring at me, he grabbed it back tapped in the code. He didn't even bother to hide it from me.

123321.

Real secure bro.

Mark then passed me back the phone and glared double daggers at me to scram. The fucker then turned around back to the girl whose smile grew wider as he stepped up to her.

Well I guess Serena's instincts were right.

Now then... What to do... I feel like I shouldn't leave things as it is.

My body was moving to act before I could gloss over the idea. I quickly pushed my finger underneath the back of Mark's beltline, slid it down slightly to the beginnings of his asscrack and voila! Applied pressure on the spot.

Then, quick as a fly, my hand darted back to my side and I retreated back into the raving crowd.

Fucker didn't even notice.

God, dammit, fucker was so sweaty!

Ew, ew, ew.

I kept wiping my finger on my pants as I made my way back to the back of the bar to where the girls were. Except they weren't where I left them. But it didn't take long for me to find them.

Re: Storytime: The weak spot.

The corridor where I left the girls was lined with private lounges and further down, one of the mirrored paned doors was open. As I marched past it, I heard Serena call out to me from inside.

The room was obviously for catering to VIPs. There were long leather sofas, fridges of refreshments, strip dancing poles, karaoke machines and a big ass flat tv. Serena and Jessica were seated demurely on one of the couches. On another couch across the room, Leo was fiddling with a green shisha pipe.

Leo looked up when I entered and gave me a smile and a nod.

"Whoa, nice place," I said.

"I'm just borrowing it a while to have a smoke," he said, raising the bong. "Saw the girls just standing outside, so I invited them in."

"Is it alright for us to be here?" I asked.

"Oh, sure, sure," Leo said. "My cousin owns the place, and this is just a backup room in case the reservations ran out."

"Do you have it?" Jessica called out to me.

I went over and handed her Mark's phone. "123321," I said.

Jessica raised an eyebrow and then exchanged a look with Serena. The girls then giggled.

The humor lasted only a moment. Soon the girls were deeply engrossed in violating Mark's privacy. Da fuck? Not even a kiss on the cheek? Not even a "Thank you Johnny, now tell us how we can show you our appreciation. We'll do aaaanything." I gotta stop watching porn. It's messing with my reality. With nothing left to do, I went over to Leo who seemed to have set up the shisha apparatus.

"You want to try bro?" He asked me.

"Uh, no thanks. I don't smoke."

"It's not smoking bro, not exactly. It's not even tobacco," he said as he turned to his side and rummaged through a sports bag that I did not notice before. He produced a glass jar filled with a paste that was nauseatingly blackish-green.

"What's that?" I asked.

"My own recipe bro," he replied. "I got an uncle who supplies these herbs to hindu temples, used for incense and shit. For meditation purposes. Well, I did some experimenting, and came up with this blend that is really out of this world."

"So, it's drugs?"

"Eh, if you want to put it like that, almost everything we consume is a drug. Did you know that sugar is as addictive as cocaine? It's true bro."

"Uh, that's okay, I'll pass."

"Come on bro. You got to experience everything at least once. Come la, I insist."

Oh well. Leo is after all, my host, and so far he's proven to be most gracious.

"Well if you insist..." I said.

He smiled and gave me a thumbs up. "That's the spirit bro!"

He loaded the bong up and I watched with doubt at the misty vapors rising through the pipe.

"Once I perfected my recipe, I'm thinking of opening my own vape shop, haha," Leo said. "Go mobile."

He handed me a tube. I took it and immediately sucked.

"Whoa, whoa, a little bit at a time," I heard him say.

Too late. I burst out into fits of coughs. There was even smoke coming out of my nose.

Leo started laughing.

I could hear the laughs gradually becoming more slurred, until they were odd rumbling noises. Suddenly, everything just seemed so bright. Not knowing what was happening, I just settled back and looked around the room. Except there was no room. Everything seems to have faded to white.

The soothing tune of a flute was playing in the background. I was on a clear lake. The water was so clear that I could see the school of koi fishes swirling before me. Looking further down, I discovered that I was standing one-legged on a pillar of wood which had been staked into the bottom of a pond. I looked down and admired my own reflection. Why am I wearing pajamas? Wait, no. It's one of those classic Chinese suits. All white and silky and shit. Then I wondered how was I maintaining my balance. Unnerved, I began to wobble.

Something tiny and hard bounced off against my head.

I glanced up and saw an old man in a wheelchair sitting on the shore of the lake he was facing me and in his hand was a bowl of peanuts which he was shelling and eating one at a time.

"Grandpa?" I called out.

"Focus, you fool," grandpa shouted sternly.

Did he just throw a peanut at me? Motherfucker...

"Reflect Johnny! There will be no progress if no understanding has been made as to the nature of your self!" Grandpa said.

"Wait, you can talk?" I asked.

Another peanut came sailing towards me. This time it nearly caught me in my eye. I wobbled violently on the narrow end of the wooden stake, trying desperately to regain my balance. Son of a bitch!

"Open your eyes!" Grandpa said. "You feel, but do not see. Look first, then let your actions flow. Know what to look for. A squirrel that runs up a woman's leg willy-nilly finds no nuts."

"Uhhhhh..."

"You must discipline yourself. At times of war, strive for peace. At times of peace, prepare for war. Do not expend yourself needlessly and ceaselessly, for such is to tread down the path of immorality."

"Is this your way of telling me with great power comes great responsibility? Dude. I hate to tell you this, but you made two of your grandchildren fuck like rabbits in your garden. Hows that for immorality?"

Grandpa bent over to reach down in front of him. His flexibility was impressive. He took off one of his flat sandals and without a word flung it at me. It smacked me on the face. He cleared his throat and said, "Do not try to hang your guilt upon the hearts of others like a pair of filthy sandals upon the pristine walls of a church. Sure, the place is full of sinners, but that shit's nasty."

"What the..."

"I've said it before and I'll say it again. Focus Johnny. Focus and reflect."

"Okay, okay, whatever. Can I please come down now?" I said. "How the hell did I get here anyway?"

To my amazement, Grandpa rose off his wheelchair and on to his feet. He walked awkwardly up to a tree on his left and bent over to pick something up.

It was a brick.

He then shuffled over back to the edge of the water.

"Whoa, whoa, w-wait a sec..." I said.

He smiled and said, "The easiest way to find out how you arrive is to go back where you came..."

"Don't you dare fucking throw that! You'll kill me you asshole."

"No I won't. I am you. It's you who choose to see me this way. I mean, you choose to see yourself this way. Wait, I mean, I see you, no, you see me... Oh, whatever..."

And with that, grandpa stretched back and flung the fucking brick like an olympic disc thrower. I watch it sail right towards my face.

Piak!

"Ow, what the fuck?" I said.

Blinking, I looked up at the face hovering above me. Serena looked so beautiful. Holy shit she's so close that I can feel her breath on my face. Is she trying to kiss me? Oh man, I knew it. Here comes your reward Sir Johnny Lance-alot, you knight in shining armor you...

Piak!

Owwww. Why is she slapping me?

"Johnny? Hei!" Serena called out to me.

"Uhhhh..." I blinked again and turned to glance to my left. I was sitting on the couch. Leo was sitting beside me, looking both worried and sheepish while a standing Jessica glared down at him, her hands on her hips.

"What is wrong with you! He's just a kid!" Jessica was saying.

"I swear, this never happen before," Leo replied.

"What the hell is this stuff?" She asked pointing to the shisha pipe.

"Errr... You know. Just herbs... Spices... Maybe some hallucinogenic mushrooms..."

"What!"

"Just a little, just a little, I swear! Like just one little mushroom in the whole jar."

"Shit la you! What if he was allergic?" Jessica berated him angrily.

"Nawww. See, he's already coming around. He was just flying high for like five minutes, chill la Jess..." Leo said.

"Johnny? You alright?" Serena asked.

"Kiss me..." I said.

She raised her hand again.

"Whoa! I'm alright, I'm okay, I'm fine!" I quickly said.

Serena let out a sigh of relief and slid down on the seat to my right. "Don't scare me like that Johnny." She said.

"Yea lor," Jessica added. "We've got enough things to worry about." She handed to me Mark's phone.

On the screen was Mark's Whatsapp correspondence with an unidentified number.

Anon: Thanks again for the other day. You really helped me out in a pinch.

Mark: It's not a problem. You're welcome.

Anon: I never really got to know you. Didn't know you were such a nice guy.

Mark: It's really not a big deal.

Anon: Modest too. Do you want to have lunch tomorrow? My treat, as my thanks.

The messages went back and forth spanning several weeks. It was really obvious a bond was emerging from the correspondence.

"So... My brother's a good samaritan?" I said.

Jessica was not amused. "You can't be that naive."

"But you don't even know who is the other person is."

"Oh, we have a pretty good idea," Jessica replied.

"Oh, you guys talking about Mark and Cheryl?" Leo asked.

Jessica turned and stared at Leo. "What! How do you know about Cheryl?"

Leo blinked innocently. "Every guy that has ever crossed her path knows about Cheryl."

Jessica rolled her eyes.

"Who's Cheryl?" I asked.

Leo smiled. "Who is the first person to come to your mind when I say long hair, sexy little black dress, cute ass..."

I closed my eyes and immediately saw the Siren girl, swaying her hips and throwing me the barest of come hither looks.

"Ohhhh," I said.

"See," Leo said to Jessica.

"Men..." Jessica sighed.

I glanced over at Serena. She looked really sullen.

"Come on, maybe they're just friends." I said.

"Ah, to be young and innocent," Jessica lamented.

"Well," Leo said. "If it really is Cheryl, then you don't need to worry. Her average relationship only lasts about two to three months."

"How is that suppose to be helpful?" Asked Jessica.

"Uhhhh... Well... Uhhhh..."

"God, hopeless la you."

"Johnny, are you sure you're alright?" Serena asked.

"Huh?"

"You've been rubbing your eyes non stop for the past five minutes."

"Oh, uh, yeah. Just abit itchy."

Itchy wasn't exactly the right word. More like it tingles. But the reason I kept rubbing my eyes was because my vision was a little off. I keep seeing odd distortions. One minute, I see Jessica, cute, petite, and pretty like a flower in her green halter minidress, the next, the region around her neck seemed to get all blurry. When I looked at Leo, it was the same. After a while the middle of his chest would distort, like looking through heated air over sun baked asphalt.

"If he goes blind because of this, you better be sure to take responsibility," Jessica said to Leo.

"Oh man. Chill la. Really no problem one. I've been smoking this for years."

"You sure anot? I think your brain gone case already," Jessica retorted.

I glanced over at Serena. Beautiful as the day the word 'beautiful' was invented. Sure enough, a distortion occurred. I could't miss it if I tried. The distortion was on both sides of her head. Namely around her ears.

Without thinking, I reached out and touched her ear, my fingers instinctively brushed the back of her earlobe.

Serena gasped and pulled away in surprise.

"You see, oh my god, he sot liao!" Jessica said. "She came over to me to get a better look at me. "Hey, snap out of it," she said.

I reached out for the distortion on her neck and my fingers instinctively traced her neckline.

"Oh my God, what's wrong with him?" Serena asked.

Both girls glared at Leo who was scratching his head as well. "Uh, well, just give him some air. His head should be clear within an hour or so."

Confused as well as embarassed, I slowly got to my wobbly feet. "Uh, yeah," I said. "I should return the phone to Mark. You know, in case he gets suspicious."

"I'll come with you," Serena said.

"Uh, maybe you better not," I said. "He's on the dance floor..."

"With Cheryl?" She asked.

I nodded. Then regretted it when I saw her swallow bitterly.

I excused myself and exited the room. Shit, that was some crazy shit I just smoked. With so much people in the club the entire place became quickly distorted in my view. It was like someone slapped a mosaic censor across my eyes. Somehow miraculously, I stumbled my way onto the dance floor.

However I couldn't find Mark anywhere.
