Re: Say “NO” To Singapore Transport Fare Increase

Dear fellow Singaporeans, "The Brain washing Disease Campaign" has been here 24/7 365 days trying to brain wash the young to revolt against our hard working govt !!!

Singapore is a well organized and well managed country but unfortunately the online sabo kings, disgruntled individual, people with hidden agenda, fugitives, foreign fugitives and the terrorists etc......are here purposely paint a different view trying to brain wash the young and naive especially the illiterate to revolt against our govt !!!

They want to destroy our country our govt and want our country to stop progressing by being critical on every single policy, whether right or wrong they will find ways to criticize it and twist it in a way to sway your judgement !!!

They want Singaporean to be disunited, vastly and bitterly divided so that the country cannot progress and move forward to compete against the rest of the world.

Look at Thailand and Egypt now, what happened to them, who suffered the most ??? The people, the nation suffered the most, next the country currency will depreciate and that is the price that you have to pay if the country is bitterly divided !!!

Do you really know who these online sabo kings and disgruntled individual are and what is their ulterior motives ???

NO, of course not becos we are all hiding behind the computer. If they really care for the country, then we all welcome healthy discussion, discussing policies how to bring the country forward in order to have a better future but unfortunately they are here to poison you, brain wash you 24/7 365 days !!!!

Readers Beware !!!

Re: Say “NO” To Singapore Transport Fare Increase

Taxpayers had always paid for the cost be it public transport was nationalized or privatised. Government own back all public transport assets and leasing out to private operators is half-hearted nationalization and an official way to give private companies like SMRT and SBS more taxpayers money to spend.

So 30 years of privatising public transport was wrong? All the nonsense how good privatising public transport were wrong? PAP was wrong for so long at the expense of citizens yet refuse to admit mistakes. This was the same analysts that said privatising public transport was good too especially analysts from LTA, PAP, Ministry of Transport. Singaporeans should stop believing all these analysts.
WP was right about nationalising public transport.

This new model is nationalisation which WP had pushed for 10 years. Government owns back all assets which were under private companies SBS and SMRT.
All the problems under privatisation were worse than problems PAP described under nationalization.

Why learn from a 3-parties government country like UK? PAP always said one party government is the best.

Watch here for evidence:

http://yawningbread.wordpress.com/20...-say-it-again/

Just after $1.1 billion dollars worth of taxpayers’ monies are disbursed to SMRT and SBS Transit to help them improve their services and keep operating costs down, SMRT is asking for another ‘Ang Pow’ from the Land Transport Authority (LTA) again.

In a press statement released this evening, SMRT said it needs to spend around S$900 million over eight years (2012-2019) to renew and upgrade its train systems, raising questions on why it has not done so earlier despite reaping in obscene profits year after year.

SMRT does not expect to foot the hefty bill entirely on its own and is currently discussing cost-sharing arrangements with the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

“Some of the measures are already on-going and will be accelerated, while others are new,” interim Chief Executive Officer Tan Ek Kia said at a news conference on Tuesday.

SMRT also claimed that as the system ages, faults will arise from time to time though the Hong Kong’s MTR and Japan’s railway systems with much longer history have never been besieged by such frequent breakdowns before.

However, SMRT was quick to remind Singaporeans that even with the ‘renewal’ plans, it cannot expect no disruptions.

Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew has earlier said in Parliament that ‘minor’ disruptions less than 30 minutes are ‘unavoidable’:

“We will try and minimise as much as possible the major disruptions and to keep them in check. But I think it is unavoidable that a system that is as heavily utilised as ours is today will not face any disruptions. Every day there are about 2.7 million passenger trips. We are running thousands of train trips for more than 18 hours a day. And I dare say that there is no way you can prevent disruptions from occurring.”

What does shareholders of SMRT and SBS do besides collecting dividends? What is the duty of shareholders? As shareholder, they are suppose to inject capital but the money come from taxpayers instead. $900 million to buy new buses and $1.1 billion to repair trains come from taxpayers. Taxpayers paid for the first batch of trains, paid for train stations, roads, bus interchanges, train tracks etc. All the capital injection came from taxpayers. What did the shareholders of SMRT and SBS paid for ??

When Swiss national broke into SMRT Depots more than once and vandalize trains, Government say SMRT is private company so Government should not be blame. When buy buses and repair trains, Government flip flop and say SMRT and SBS are public entities so need to give them $2 billion of taxpayers money.

When public transport was nationalised in the past, KPI was commuter convenience and speed of going from Point A to Point B. Shareholders were the general public. After privatisation, shareholders became a selected minority and KPI became profiteering.

At GE2011 WP Manifesto, WP wanted nationalisation of public transport because privatisation without competitors was not working in a small country like Singapore. 1980s-1990s, public transport was nationalised and SBS and SMRT was government entities. Rides were smooth , comfortable, fast and affordable and there was no major screw ups no matter how old and new the systems and vehicles were compare to now.

Since it is a WP idea, PAP will not do it.

Guess PAP IBs like their masters are in self denial. PAP IBs besides making silly empty sarcastic remarks, can change history?

Your remarks shows your low intelligence.

History is there for all to see that public transport run better before privatisation.

PAP's track record of refusing to accept Opposition's suggestions are well documented. If not, PAP will copy idea and publicized with help of Media as PAP idea. History has proven it.
History also tells us 1980s-1990s when most bus drivers were Singaporeans because income gap was minimal, there was not much incidents involving trains and buses. Unlike now whereby average every month, a train ride or bus ride can go wrong. It could be any of you next.
Either bus driver get lost, make wrong turns, ramming into other vehicles, killing pedestrians at zebra crossings, traffic junctions, bus stops, trains brake down regularly etc.
All these are base on real history. Privatisation had increase passenger cost and made public transport less efficient.

It does not matter cut and paste or original. As long it makes sense. Though you use real identity and do not cut and paste, your statements add no value to the topic.

Circle Line and North East Line are newer than NS and EW Lines but break down as often as the older lines. Whether buses are new or old does not matter, it is the alarming rate of incidents that matters after privatisation and passengers still need to pay more for a less efficient public transport system compare to nationalized days.

Not to mention taxpayers paid $900 million to buy new buses for a private company and paid 1.1 billion to repair and buy new trains for a private company.

Guess you should look at yourself. Anything PAP is good. I am stating historical facts. Your statements really have no value.
You are a fortune teller but I am not. I cannot foresee whether WP is better government or not because WP has no track record yet as a bad government. But Singaporeans can see PAP is definitely declining as a government.

PAP and their supporters will say it is all Singaporean's fault again. Nothing to do with government. Like government always says "don’t look to the government, look to your friends and family, be self reliant,”.

Empower Your Future

Manifesto 2015

http://www.wp.sg/manifesto/

The Workers’ Party believes the next step for Singapore lies in balanced reforms grounded in a comprehensive vision. The time has come to move beyond short-term fixes for long-standing problems. The future of Singapore lies in active investment in our fellow Singaporeans here and now. The time has come to empower a dynamic and confident people.

Singapore does not need blind economic growth; we need compassionate and equitable growth. We are tired of the myth of Singaporeans needing to bite the bullet in the hope that wealth generated at the top will trickle down eventually. This myth has resulted in severe inequality and discouraged enterprise in the past decade.

In order to tackle the challenges facing Singapore in the next decades, we need to unlock the dynamism and confidence innate in Singaporeans. Our Manifesto 2015 builds upon our vision of focusing on Singaporeans and calls for economic, social, urban, governance and security policies that can create the conditions where the dynamism and confidence of Singaporeans can be unleashed to achieve our aspirations together.

We believe that empowering Singaporeans entails a system of government where there are adequate checks and balances without political gridlock. The legislature must play this crucial role to check a powerful executive and push it to make well-balanced policies and laws that protect and advance the people’s interests.

Singapore is now a mature and diverse society. We are more than ready for a Parliament with different political voices to engage the executive branch led by the Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers. A diverse Parliament is critical in assisting the executive to make sounder judgments about policy trade-offs.

A Parliament monopolised by one party fails the test of rigorous debate and voting in forging sound policies. This grave imbalance gives free rein to the ruling party to take our country in any direction it deems fit. A Parliament that includes MPs from a rational, responsible and respectable opposition party compels the government to listen to the collective wisdom of the people.

A complex and uncertain future lies ahead. We have depended on a small group of talents in a single party to lead us in earlier times. This formula is no longer adequate. We need to build and revive institutions to empower Singaporeans and unleash our talents to move ahead with confidence. This can only be achieved through a balanced Parliament. Your future is in your hands. Empower your future!
