It has been like this for more than 100 yrs. If u have the opportunity, go n ask the ger grand parents. This does not happened suddenly for this generation. If u still want to argue on this "culture" then stick to it. Call them rubbish. I am just letting others know, either accept it or move on with another ger. Greedy parents or "face" treasure parents will ask for more. 200k, 2 mils, 20 mils sin sod are not uncommon. 10, 100, 1000 baht gold are also common.

Sin Sod is only part of the married. They will ask for how many gold you need to give. Do forget you need to throw the dinner at their home town as it just like they buffet for all as the feast from afternoon to evening no doubt the dishes may no the a lot but looking at all the cost. How sure are will you be able to get back the so call 70%? Think twice as I have the same situation with you before and I have been in relationship for 4 years and I walk off. It not the money that you paying now as you are married to the whole family.

i was given back 300K thai baht from my mother in law because she told me all she wants is for me to take care her daughter well in Singapore.....

When I married I paid 10 baht gold and 100k baht cash sin sod. Much of the sin sod was used to pay for the wedding or gifts for my in laws.

There is no right or wrong. How much is too little or too much. Pay the amount you can afford. Good luck.

Firstly you (TS) are no farang -so why pay farang price?

Got a very simple answer for you. If you trust her, put whatever you can afford and whatever deal it is to keep or return how much.

If you don't trust her, don't get married, you will only get screwed.

If you do pay the sin sod, when you fuck her in the ass and she complains, tell her you "bought" her what....and remember to make her kowtow to you at the wedding. Afterall, it's tradition......and so is having mer noi.....
