Girls working here are legal, just that Sg don't welcome such things so will catch and send them back. In fact, 99 percent of the time they wont be charge or anything. Just kana send back

In China, girls kana caught will have jail term.

Going by the law, SG already decriminalise sex work, that's why there are licensed brothels and red light district. Compared to other south east asian countries in this region, hard to believe, prostitution is legal here, but illegal even in notorious countries like thailand!

The older generation leaders knew this kind of activities will go on anyway regardless of laws. So they were wise to allow some "outlet", while collecting revenue. Control of such activities also easier, rather than driving them underground. Hopefully the new generation leaders continue with such pragmatism.

Re: time to decriminalise sex work

Girls on work permit don't have to have HIV/sex disease test every week or two. These checks are for our benefit. If they want to provide sexual services, get the appropriate visa.

You're not going to get a study visa overseas when you are going there for a full time job right?

Stumble upon this thread so I put my two cents worth.

Your title is wrong, it is not a crime to provide sex work in Singapore otherwise why would there be Geylang?

The authorities go after the foreign girls who are here on visit pass, student pass or whatever pass; anything but a proper work pass stating that she is a licence sex worker.

If the working lady is a local or PR for that matter, you can try to report her for prostitution and see if anything will happen to her.

I think our authority is not doing enough, the worst are those FLs who set up shop in HDBs they rented. For goodness sake, think of our kids.

To sum it up (and answer your question), I quote the boss, whores are for fucking...

You like the girl so much, you can bao her, marry her or whatever and let her stop working otherwise talk is cheap.

thanks so much for your 2 cents.

according to the women's charter, owning a brothel is a crime. just that the police decide to close one eye as the "pragmatic approach". close one eye doesn't mean legal. close one eye just means pa jiao.

Re: time to decriminalise sex work

If the girls are LOCAL independents working on their own and doing their own business without having a pimp advertising for them, or a set work location they are at all the time, it's not actually illegal for them to be a prostitute or escort in SG.

Big issue is always with foreigners coming to SG to do sex work without the appropriate visa and through the proper channels. And it's not as much for crime issues as it is for public health issues. There's no way for HSA and MOH to keep tabs on any potential STD or HIV outbreak in SG if the transmission happened through transient foreigners passing through for a couple weeks and working in the sex trade here. Whereas GL girls get tested minimally monthly and their livelihoods, along with their house operational status depends on it staying clean.

Hey goon, those in Brothels in Geylang have operating license lah. the girls working inside opening their legs and their mouths also have valid work permit as sex workers in singapore for 2 years lah... check your facts properly...
the closing eyes you talking about is those standing on the streets lah..and yes they do close eyes..and its illegal to stand on streets to pull customers. But nobody complain no action taken...
Seriously from the way you reply and the question you asked, clearly you are one young punk without street knowledge and i mean not street smart at all in case you dont know what i mean by without street knowledge.

yes i know that they have operating license. but it is against the law (article 148 women's charter). and the exact terms and conditions of the license is not publicly available. it's clearly some exemption but no one knows exactly how.

and when i say decriminalise, i mean decriminalise for everyone - street, ktv, massage, online etc. not just for brothel workers.

You really like to dig into your own horns hor...
Have operating license also means they met the requirement from the Police HQ so they will issue the license to them. Its not publicly shown becos not any kuching kurak can apply for the license. There are requirement and the you dont need to ask whats the requirement. becos they stop issuing new license for these already...they have quota and if reach, stop!
These license is for pure fuck purpose.
The others you mentioned is for Ktv for singing , massage is for massage and etc...In Sg the license or permit you holding mean 1 then only do 1, show 2 then only do 2 cannot do 1.
If you still dig your own horns, you go ask yourself first, why spider 8 legs and ant only 6 legs...then proceed to this..
why online cannot? becos they cannot regulate it..simple as that and when you do a biz and is highly lucrative and they the gov dont have any share of it, then dream on to start or have the biz...
