Foamy urine has nothing to do with STDs. It could be nothing or it could be something more serious like kidney disease.

Foamy urine could indicate elevated protein levels in your pee.

Protein in urine

Causes

By Mayo Clinic Staff

Your kidneys filter waste products from your blood while retaining what your body needs — including proteins. However, some diseases and conditions allow proteins to pass through the filters of your kidneys, causing protein in urine.

Conditions that can cause a temporary rise in the levels of protein in urine, but don't necessarily indicate kidney damage, include:

Dehydration
Emotional stress
Exposure to extreme cold
Fever
Strenuous exercise

Diseases and conditions that can cause persistently elevated levels of protein in urine, which might indicate kidney disease, include:
  • Amyloidosis (buildup of abnormal proteins in your organs)
  • Certain drugs, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
  • Chronic kidney disease
  • Diabetes
  • Endocarditis (an infection of the inner lining of the heart)
  • Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS)
  • Glomerulonephritis (inflammation in the kidney cells that filter waste from the blood)
  • Heart disease
  • Heart failure
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Hodgkin's lymphoma (Hodgkin's disease)
  • IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease) (kidney inflammation resulting from a buildup of the antibody immunoglobulin A)
  • Kidney infection (pyelonephritis)
  • Lupus
  • Malaria
  • Multiple myeloma
  • Nephrotic syndrome (damage to small filtering blood vessels in the kidneys)
  • Orthostatic proteinuria (urine protein level rises when in an upright position)
  • Preeclampsia
  • Pregnancy
  • Rheumatoid arthritis (inflammatory joint disease)
  • Sarcoidosis (collections of inflammatory cells in the body)
  • Sickle cell anemia

Best advice to the threadstarter would be to pop by the GP for a urine test.

Yes, for foaminess please go for a urine test at polyclinic or GP.

More likely than not it is microalbuminuria (trace amounts of protein), which is a possible indicator of future kidney problems but not definite.

Can be managed with some types of hypertension medicines if elevated. For more serious cases may be referred to kidney specialist for 24 hour urine test, or kidney biopsy.

Source: I developed this from another unrelated health complication related to hypertension unfortunately. But under control after a year of meds, still go for checkups every year or so.

P.S. Yellow is just not drinking enough water lol, and if orangey may be excess vitamin C.

Certain foods can lead to brown urine
Some foods may turn urine brown if you eat enough of them. These include:

aloe
fava beans
food colorings
rhubarb
Conditions that cause brown urine
Medical conditions and disorders that can turn urine brown include:

bleeding in your urinary tract
hemolytic anemia, a condition in which red blood cells are destroyed
kidney disorders
liver disorders, such as hepatitis or cirrhosis
porphyrias, a group of rare, inherited conditions that affect hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying protein in blood
melanoma
urinary tract infections
severe dehydration
Medications that cause brown urine
Medications that can make your urine darker include:

antimalarials like chloroquine (Aralen) and primaquine
antibacterial drugs, such as furazolidone (Furoxone), metronidazole (Flagyl), and nitrofurantoin (Macrobid)
iron supplements
laxatives that contain cascara or senna
levodopa, which is used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease
Additionally, muscle injury caused by intense exercise, injury, or chemical means can lead to rhabdomyolysis. This can cause the release of a substance called myoglobin, which turns urine brown or pink.

If this occurs after exercise, it’s important to seek medical attention right away.

What should you do if your urine turns brown?
If you notice that your urine is darker, a good first step is to drink more water to rule out dehydration. You should also think about the foods you’ve eaten and the medications you’ve taken. If this doesn’t bring to mind a cause, check for other symptoms.

For example, if your urine is dark brown and you also notice a yellowing of your skin and eyes, see your doctor as soon as possible. These could be signs of a liver problem.

When you visit your doctor, they’ll test your urine to look for health problems that could be affecting its color. These include tests to see whether your kidneys are filtering normally and to look for urinary tract infections.

Your doctor may also do blood tests. Once you know what’s to blame for the color change, you can stop eating the offending food, switch medications, or treat the condition involved.
