Anyone tried this place?
Recommended by another foodie..
Mother and son run this stall inside a coffeeshop at block 158 near Ang Mo Kio Mayflower Market. For $6 you get good amount of big prawn slides or $4 for a very decent prawn noodles. Good quality of dry mixed noodles, fresh prawns and yummy soup. They have la la noodles too. Will try it on my next visit. Closed on Mondays. Opening hours 7.30 am to 2 pm.

Hup Kee Fried Oyster Omelette, Stall 73, Newton Hawker Centre, 6pm-1am, closed Wednesdays.
These folks hail as far back as the original Orchard Road Gluttons Square carpark in the 60’s (where the Orchard Central now sits). They use a lot more eggs to coat the starches and leave them on the high-fire pan a little longer than most. It comes out like crispy little egg coated starched parcels and they quick-fry the oyster separately, for its natural juices and flavour before slathering it over the platter of omelette. The chilli is sharp and piquant, which I suspect many hawkers use a similar supplier for it, as they know just what hawkers want from this chilli dip.

When it comes to eating mookata, there are two types of people: the first drinks the soup while the other doesn’t. Pork lard is used to oil the grill, and as it cooks, the fats from the pork lard and the juices from the meats flow down into the soup based. Thus, making the soup not only flavourful but also very oily. Some people love it while others would skip it as they are health-conscious. I belong to the latter. What about you?
Thai Hao Chi Mookata has received many compliments from patrons for being the best mookata in Singapore to serve authentic charcoal Mookata with MSG FREE soup based. Behind every good dining experience, is a team of friendly and efficient staff, and Thai Hao Chi never fails to achieve that.

Most of the diners at this coffeeshop will either be eating the Hokkien mee or the ocean curry fish head. I tried the Claypot version for 2 which costs $10, it comes with claims, oysters (to replace roasted meat) prawns and sotong. Those who dare to indulge should ask for extra fries pork lard also. The chili is really good, but you have to ask for more, the standard saucer which is prepared for self service has only a tiny portion of the chili given, and the owner keeps the chili out of self service reach, but go ahead and ask for more, it's worth the stare given For $10 Claypot version I must say they are generous with the ingredients. Taste wise though I wouldn't say it's much nicer than the non Claypot version, but it's sure enough to make me want to come back again next time.
