NSF, who also had drug offences and failed to report for NS duties, to be caned as well

Even as he was serving his national service with the Singapore Police Force, Muhd Firdaus Abdullah was himself on the wrong side of the law - trafficking drugs and harbouring an alleged murderer.

A special constable in the Special Operations Command (SOC), he was also a secret society member.

Yesterday, Firdaus, 20, was jailed for six years and two months, and will receive five strokes of the cane.

Jail, cane for Police NSF who harboured alleged murderer and committed drug-related offences
SINGAPORE - While serving his national service with the Singapore Police Force, Muhd Firdaus Abdullah was himself on the wrong side of the law - trafficking drugs and harbouring an alleged murderer.

The special constable attached to the Special Operations Command (SOC) was also a secret society member.

On Wednesday (May 30), Firdaus, 20, was jailed for six years and two months, with five strokes of the cane. He had pleaded guilty last month to one count each of harbouring an alleged murderer, failing to report for his national service duties and possessing, consuming and trafficking drugs.

A man who harboured a fellow gang member suspected of being involved in a high-profile murder case was jailed six years and two months and given five strokes of the cane at the State Courts on Wednesday (30 May).

Muhd Firdaus Abdullah, 20, was a full-time police national serviceman (PNSF) when he took Muhammad Khalid Kamarudin, 22, and Muhammad Faizal Md Jamal, 23, into his brother’s Aljunied Crescent flat on the morning of 12 March last year.

Khalid and Fazial along with two others – Shawalludin Sa’adon, 27, and Muhammad Hisham Hassan, 28 – had allegedly attacked two men near St James Power Station hours earlier, leaving one of the victims dead and the other severely injured.

The four attackers along with Firdaus are all members of the Sio Kun Tong secret society group, which operates out of Toa Payoh Central.

While out on bail for harbouring Khalid, Firdaus – who held the rank of Special Constable and was attached to the Special Operations Command unit – also deserted his national service post, claiming it paid too little, and turned to drug trafficking.

Firdaus had pleaded guilty to one charge of harbouring an alleged murderer, one charge of possessing methamphetamine with the purpose of trafficking, one count of consuming the same drug and another count of possessing the drug.
