First hand Experience with Ashley Madison in Singapore

Would like to share my personal experience in Ashley Madison from Singapore, so you bros will make an informed decision if it's worth the trouble and costs to get into the website. If possible and time permits, I will update with screenshots.

This step is much easier than you think it is. I'm not a tech guru, I'm sure many bros here are more technically competent.

Because Ashley Madison is banned in Singapore, you will need to use a VPN to hide your true location.

VPN services are numerous and even the local ISPs are bundling VPN services with their broadband. There are paid ones and free ones. I paid for a VPN called hidemyass , so far it works great, and you can use it across all devices with their apps.

Cons of VPN:

When you use a VPN, it slows down your internet speed and it did screw up my torrenting. As I'm not tech savvy, I was frustrated a whole over the slowdown in speed. But tinkering with the settings got things back up.

Once your VPN is set up, (it takes only a few minutes and easily paid with credit card) and you're connected to internet, just Google Ashley Madison (or your recently banned favourite porn) site and get ready to log in!

(Make sure you take the usual precautions to not leave tracks behind such as use incognito browser mode and deleting history!)

Part 3: Should you pay to use AM?

Fast answer: Yes. Because if you want to have any chance of success on AM, whatever you are looking for, be it ONS, or a long term affair, the business model of AM requires (and "rewards") users who are willing to pay.
As I mentioned in point 2 above, you pay to get noticed. But whether or not you get noticed also depends on many other factors that AM is not responsible for. I will share some in another post what I did and what results I have so far.
So on that point, after you have decided you want to pay, how to make your money work?

1. Priority messages
Normal messages costs 5 credits each to send. Priority messages costs 10. This is not explicitly obvious, is only after you send it as priority, you notice your credits dropped by 10. (another sneaky tactic) But really, it is better than sending 2 messages to the same person. Why? Your priority message will be flagged and appear at the top of her inbox. Also, with priority message, when she opens your message, you will get informed that she opened it. That gives you a hint perhaps she may be interested, or if she doesn’t reply, try someone else. You can continue to spam her since the initial chatting costs is paid already, but she can also easily block you if she finds you irritating.

2. Priority Man

Being pushed up to every search page is a big perk. You can have the most excellent profile, but if you’re last in Q, she’s probably going to view another person’s profile first, such as another person’s Priority Man profile.
Other things like gifts, I never tried coz it’s so damn expensive and not sure what they do, but overall, I feel these 2 “investments” are the only worthwhile things worth paying for. The bottom line is to get noticed first.

Conclusion to part 3:

If you want to have an account and just browse profiles, by all means, you can do for free (AGAIN, remember that once a profile is created for FREE, you need to pay $25 to DELETE it). If you actually want to use AM properly, have a decent chance of starting a conversation going, you will need to pull out your wallet. That’s how the business is designed, so as a consumer, you will have to pay. Just be careful of the points I mentioned in Part 2 about the hidden/not so obvious charges.

Part 4: Pros and Cons of using AM

Part 4a: Cons

Firstly, I don’t consider myself a pro at using dating sites. But after using it for more than 1 week, AM is really nothing more than a well marketed online dating tool. Why do I say this? I’ll start with the Cons.

Con 1: You have no control (neither does AM) over whether the other profile is a real deal

Even though AM is well marketed to promote and trademark adultery, members from all types are welcome. Singles, attached, married or unmarried, all can create profiles. Bots or non bots. In other words, AM is no different from just another dating site such as adultfriendfinder, which you may have better chances since it’s not banned in Singapore. (Is it? I am not sure, never tried to log in, only hear about it)

Con 2: Where are the women?

As a bro rightly pointed out, as it is banned in SG, you reduce the user base significantly, and the extra step to log into AM is something I guess not many women will do.
Strangely as well, you can’t search for “Singapore” when you indicate your location. AM replaced “Singapore” with “新加坡”. So maybe women who can’t read Chinese would be puzzled and leave.
How many women are online at any time? Less than 10, from my experience, and it’s always the same profiles. So you can imagine, a hundred other bros messaging these 10 women. Your chances will be slim.
Of course, women can choose to hide their profile from being shown as online, and maybe they prefer to browse and pick their man. The total number of profiles I browse, within age group 22-46, online and offline, are about 30? A few pages only. Some are not even active accounts, which you can see when they were last online.
I have tried messaging offline profiles, maybe only 1 or 2 profiles online in the past 2-3 days, with no response.
So this is probably the biggest con of using AM: There are no fish.
Those are the biggest cons. I would not consider needing to pay as a con, rather it’s just how it works. Is it expensive? I think depends from bro to bro. If you take it as a form of entertainment, then sure, you won’t feel so pain. If you are serious about getting hooked up, then be prepared to spend alot of money. Get the premium package and go nuts, and be patient. Go for some “How to score in online dating” course, spruce up your profile pics, description, learn how to chat online.
Or, find a nice FL with extra services and go home happy, cheaper also.

Con 3: Bots and fakes

If you are a dating website virgin, the only way for you to protect yourself from bots, is to fall sucker to them once, but not twice. You can also learn from bros like myself who tell you, to ignore messages, chat requests, from profiles that are remotely suspicious. AM has another sneaky tactic, called “AM Angels” (I think is called this), and this is mentioned in their disclaimer (which you don’t read). AM Angels are fake, computer generated profiles who, unless you indicate in your profile NOT to receive messages from them, are there to “provide entertainment” and conduct “market research”. So make sure you indicate in your profile settings not to interact with these bots.
The other fakes, are the lovely Chinese model profiles who chat with you, and after a few chats, ask you to open an account with gagamatch, another fraudulent dating website. So, ignore all messages from 22-24 year old profiles whose location is in China/US.

Part 4b: Pros of using AM

So you have the money, and are willing to try it out. Well, AM has its good points.

Pro 1: Branding and inaccessibility

Remember the cons I mentioned above? Those can work in our favour. Women who are serious about having a discreet affair, will think of AM. If they are serious, they will find out how to get into AM. If they are serious, our chances are actually quite good to have a chance with them, even if we need to wait in line. So the branding creates a niche market. At least in theory. You will still have the bots and spams and fake profiles trying to trick you.

Pro 2: Clean website

That’s the only other pro I can think of. It’s actually quite a feminine design, but it is very easy to navigate and use, with no irritating pop ups and ads. It’s clean and legit. A nice touch they added is you can “censor” your photos with a mask or black strip if you are concerned with privacy.

Part 5: Conclusion

How am I doing on AM now? I’m chatting with a profile who is a 43/153/70 married woman and having interesting conversations, but I doubt it will work out because we have communication barriers and just lack the chemistry just online. We took the chat offline to WeChat. How it started? After doing up my profile and getting the Priority Man perk, she added me as a favourite (You get notified), and I sent a few messages. It took about 2-3 days before she replied and here we are now, just casually chatting. Won’t divulge much at this point in time, maybe in a separate post I will share the full details, and how it pans out.

How much money has been spent?

I think about <$200, as I bought the introductory package of 100 Credits for $100 SGD (Can’t remember if exactly $100..maybe a little more), topped up with Priority Man, and now have 50 credits left. Introductory package is only for NEW profiles, so I won’t be able to get the same on again if I want to top up credits. Some credits wasted on opening bot messages.

Will I continue to use AM?

I think by the end of my Priority Man subscription, I may just use up the credits and leave the account open, and deactivate if nothing happens. I’m really more curious about trying it out, and one week into AM, I find myself very distracted by it, and neglecting family and work.
So that’s my sharing, I hope you bros like it and find it useful.

2a. How does Ashley Madison make money from you?

Ashley Madison (AM) uses a package model to sell you credits. The most expensive package costs about $400 SGD, gives you 1000 credits and some other perks which I will explain later.
You use credits to do several things such as:

a. Sending a message to another profile

If you want to message another member, you need to pay 5 credits. Sending gifts range between 20 to 30 credits. I've only sent messages, never sent winks or gifts, nor added profiles under "favourites", I believe these costs credits also.

b. Opening "Collect" Messages

This part is interesting. Because AM also targets women adulterers, not everything for women are free. Women still need to pay to send messages if they are initiating the chat. But here's where AM is damn smart. Women (and men) can send the message as a "Collect" message, where the other party will need to pay on your behalf, to recieve the message.

For example:

You want to send a message to SexyMILF1234 but have no credits. You send a message as a "Collect" message. SexyMILF1234 will need to pay 5 credits from her own pocket to open your message.

c. Initiating Instant Messaging sessions

You can initiate a chat with profiles who are "Chat Ready", meaning they are willing to chat with you. If you want to chat with SexyMILF1234, you will need to pay 30 credits for 30 minutes of instant messaging.

d. Paying for perks

The main perk I have experienced so far, is the Priority Man perk. When you are a normal full member, meaning you have paid for a package and now have some credits in hand, AM will advertise that your profile is now on Page 60. For $39.90, you will be featured as the Top 3 profiles in every search page. This means women who are browsing for guys, will definitely see your profile. Or so they say. This perk lasts for 30 days.

The second perk that was bundled free with my package was this very confusing "Member Initiated Contact" perk. I tried my best to understand this. But in the end I have no idea what it is about. All I know is that it's normally $30+ per month, so that if other members contact you first, you don't need to pay the collect cost, or if someone adds you as their Favourite (this also costs credits from YOU), you don't need to pay the credits. (I may be wrong on this, but only because I didnt' understand the perk at all)

The last perk that I have experienced isn't really a perk, but more like a "booster". For 5 extra credits, you can send a message and flag it as "Priority". This makes your "Hey babe wanna FXXX tonight?" message appear at the top of her Inbox, above the hundreds of "Hey babe wanna FXXX tonight?" messages from other users.

e. Paying for nonsense

Let's face it, AM is out to make money from guys. So there will be some sneaky tactics not uncommonly seen elsewhere. The first nonsense tactic is that when you click on the package, it automatically adds an extra service for $39+ for a "one time activation" so you can use their mobile site from your mobile device or their App. So be careful before you click "Pay". You can access the main site via mobile device, so this is totally unnecessary.

The other sneaky tactic is confusing you about recurring charges. Make sure you uncheck the option to automatically top up your credits. The Priority Man perk comes free with the Premium package, but it is automatically charged after the 30 month period.

So what I experienced was, I did not want the recurring charges for the "Member Initiated Contact" perk, so I wanted to cancel the recurring charge. Even though they will ask you TWICE to confirm if you wanted to cancel it, it was not very obvious that when you cancel it, you cancel the entire subscription to the perk from that moment. I was like, WTF, I wanted to cancel the auto-renewal, not the current subscription.

The greatest nonsense you have to pay for, and take this as a warning for all bros out there, is the $25 to completely remove your profile from AM. You can deactivate it, but you cannot delete your profile unless you pay. That's how awesome this business model is, and why AM is laughing to the bank.


That's about all I experience so far, 1 week into AM, about what you pay for.

1. Creating a full account is free.

You can have a working inbox, profile picture gallery, full search functions. You can see who viewed you, who is online now, send winks (I think winks are free but what's the point, she would have kena winked to death) and request private access to their private photos, if they have.


2. Browsing other profiles is free.

You can see everything that the other profile is willing to show. Side note, offensive pictures are not allowed as the main profile pic (I think this is the only classy thing about AM), so forget about using your dick as your profile pic. You can put your dick pic in your private gallery.


3. Messaging is free if you send collect messages and the other party pays to chat with you.

This is very possible, if your profile has been tainted with some voodoo to make women think they are chatting with George Clooney, or, the other profile is actually a guy looking for some action with you.

I have an account on AM. I don't use it very often, only use it when I travel somewhere I don't have a FB.

Men are outnumbered many to one so unless you spend a lot of money (sending priority messages) you will have a hard time getting noticed. I have noticed it can take a long time for a non priority message to be read, because many women receive hundreds of messages each day. I was in Italy almost 3 weeks ago, just received a reply to a wink today. sorry baby, too late. It doesn't hurt if you are very good looking, but then you probably don't need AM anyway.

I have met several women face to face with AM. Was disappointed by all of them. Did not pursue. They did not look like I thought based on their profiles. No chemistry. A couple of other times, exchanged emails, received pics and decided did not want even to meet. Also, many women think they want to have an affair, but they really don't have the courage. They would rather "chat", which is money spent for nothing. Fuck that.

If you really want to find someone and actually get laid on AM, you need to be decent looking at least and you will have to put in a lot of effort. Be prepared to send a lot of priority messages and spend a lot of money. This is even if you are good looking, because women receive so many messages, especially the ones that look hot based on their profiles and pics. The better looking you are, the younger you are and the better shape you are in, the more likely you will hook up.
